Lampard the next to reach 100 caps for England

Written by Sebastien on 30 May 2013. Posted in News

Ashley Cole was the Captain of England on the friendly match against Ireland on Wednesday and the left fullback became the 7th english player to reach the 100-caps mark. Frank Lampard is only dour matches away from reaching 100 caps with the England team and he said: I saw Stevie (meaning Gerrard) get that gold cap, which was well deserved, and then Ash last night. If I can get there and can stay involved in future games then I would be a very proud man if I did reach that."

"Ash certainly deserves the accolades. To get 100 caps, to start every game and to play at the quality and level he has played for such a long period of time, he deserves everything. I think the fans gave him the very right reception, he deserved the moment and the atmosphere was brilliant."

First player to reach 100 appearances for England was Billy Right in 1959. Bobby Charlton, David Beckham, Peter Shilton, Bobby Moore and Steven Gerrard are among the players that have 100 or more caps for England.
